1. GENERAL
1.1. This document defines the conditions for conducting online language courses by the Studying Portuguese language school, hereinafter referred to as ‘the school’.
1.2. The services offered by the school consist in conducting one-to-one Brazilian Portuguese lessons online using such videoconferencing applications as Skype and Google Hangouts.
1.3. Attending a course at the school means that you have read and accepted these T&Cs.
2. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
2.1. In order to make the first booking, you must use the contact form on the studyingportuguese.com website. Students who already have a school account can book lessons using their account mailbox.
2.2. In order to make the first booking, you must use one of the booking options available on the studyingportuguese.com website. Students who already have a school account can book lessons using their account mailbox.
2.3. You are entitled to a free 30-minute trial lesson provided that you did not take any lessons at the school in the past.
2.4. The school offers 60- and 90-minute lessons - either as packages of 10 or 30 lessons, or one-offs.
2.5. To start learning, you must pay for a one-off lesson or a package, either by bank transfer or via PayPal. All the payments must be made in advance, at least 24 hours before the agreed time of the one-off lesson or of the first lesson within a package. The 24-hour deadline concerns receiving payment by the school and not the time of ordering the transfer. If you buy a package of 30 lessons, you can pay in two equal instalments – the first one payable before starting the package and the other one at least 24 hours before the agreed date of the 16th lesson in the package. If the second instalment is not paid on time, the lessons will be suspended until the payment is made.
2.6. Packages of ten lessons must be used up within 90 days of the day of the first lesson, and packages of 30 lessons within 180 days.
2.7. If you postpone or cancel a lesson at least 24 hours before the booked time, either by emailing the teacher or notifying the school via your VCITA profile, you will not be charged. If a lesson is postponed or cancelled after the 24-hour deadline or if you do not show up for a lesson, the lesson will count as completed and you will be charged.
2.8. You can cancel a prepaid lesson package while observing the above 24-hour cancellation deadline. The school will pay you back for unused lessons by bank transfer within ten days of receiving written notification about the cancellation, including your bank details. By international bank transfers, the school will deduct the transfer fees from the refund amount. You are entitled to a cancellation refund on the condition that you have used at least 50 per cent of the lessons in the package.
2.9. In the rare cases when the school needs to cancel a lesson on short notice, you will be notified as soon as possible and the school will suggest another time for the lesson.
2.10. If, on the day of a planned lesson, you experience issues which make it difficult or impossible to conduct it, you will be charged for the lesson; there is no postponement or refund option.
2.11. If you are late for a lesson, the teacher will wait for up to 15 minutes from the agreed start time. Afterwards the lesson will count as completed and you will be charged.
